Selecting The Best Bike

The preferred mode of transport has taken an unlikely turn in recent years. Before the car was transport of choice but recently however the use of push bikes has become increasingly popular. Perhaps this because the last couple of decades have seen a major shift in the popularity of “living green.” Maybe it is because the cost of gas is just too high. Whatever the reason, there are more cyclists on the road than ever. Maybe you have considered buying a bike? If you have been thinking about using a bike as your main mode of transportation, or just thinking about getting one for fun, there are a few things you need to think about.

The basic key to choosing a bicycle is to buy a bicycle that you can sit on and rest your feet flat on the floor so that you can stop yourself. There are certain professionals, though, who disagree with this concept. It is their belief, that your time on your bicycle will be much more comfortable, if you allow your feet to remain several inches off the ground. You will likely find that the seat will rest too near the crossbar, if, when you sit on the seat, your knees are bent with your feet flat on the ground, which is an indication that the seat needs to be raised. If this is happening, when you start to pedal the bike then your knees review are going to come up too high. You shouldn't ever sit the seat at the lowest setting, which means sitting on the crossbar. You always want to bring the seat up at least a few inches when you begin to ride, so keep this in mind when you are picking your bike. When you bring the seat up a few inches, you are going to have more room between the crossbar and you, and this will make for a much more comfortable ride. The ideal seat height can be achieved, by ensuring that your leg is very close to completely extended, when your foot is at it's lowest position while on the pedal.

Where you set the angle of your seat is also something to consider. There are a variety of options for tilting the bicycle seat. Most find that a flat seat can prove to be extremely uncomfortable, so they adjust it to their preference. Find the position that will be most comfortable to you, and stick with it. You may find that if you leave the seat in the flat position, the narrow part of the seat will not allow you to comfortably bend forward.

So many options are available to you as you shop for a new bike. From how safe the bicycle is to what it looks like, there are lots of choices to make. Feeling a little defeated at the outset of choosing your new bike is normal. By investing a bit of your time to look at your preferences you will make the best decision.

Do this research before you go shopping. You’ll be glad you did!
